Explanation of Results Stats

As I stated I'd do, here's and explanation of the weekly results stats on the right hand side. With the coming weeks, this should become a little easier as I settle in on a specific game type and refine my record keeping.

29 - Total tables played
- 20 Turbo
- 9 Regular

--- Since I played two different types of games last week, I separated each game out so that I could see the different stats. This coming week, I'll be playing strictly Turbo games, so this won't be an issue.

2 - Tables played simultaneously

--- This coming week, I will be playing 3 tables at once, in order to compare my ROI and profit with that of playing only 2 tables.

-41.7% - Regulars ROI
46.3% - Turbos ROI
19.0% - Overall ROI

--- Starting Bankroll = To always remember where I came from... lol

--- Winnings = any money I win from games

--- Rakeback = The rakeback I earn during the week. This is on there twice, once positive, once negative, because while it adds to my subtotal bankroll (the bankroll shown by the poker room's cashier), it is actually removed as payment to myself for playing.

--- Cashout = The cashout is determined by the game-type I'm playing. At the moment, I'm playing STT's, which means that for every game I play, I remove 3% of the buy-in as payment to myself for playing.

--- Entry Fees = Just what it says, the fees that I've paid during the week to play the games.

$5.73 - Week's Profit

--- This is the gross profit for the week. This excludes the fees, cashout, and rakeback.

And That is pretty much it. Anything else I've missed or if anything else comes up, I'll throw it up on a new post.

Why hello there once again!

It's been a long time since I've played any poker; almost a full year of no poker!

I started playing again this past Sunday (13th) and I've got a whole new outlook on poker in general as well as a new strategy and guidelines.

I decided that I will start playing single-table tournaments (STT's) so that I can build my bankroll without too much variance. I've previously had very good showings in these types of games, but never really stuck with it. I also decided that this time around, I will be keeping a dedicated spreadsheet for tracking my results, outside of Holdem Manager. I feel like maintaining this spreadsheet will keep me focused on the goal and will allow me actually see my results first hand; a motivational factor to play more and win more.

With this strategy, it should be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to go broke as long as I maintain a positive ROI. I will be covering why this strategy appears to be worthwhile and why I've decided to use it in a future post.

When I started on Sunday, I had $63.01 to my name. While this was just short of the recommended starting bankroll, it wasn't short by much and so I figured I could make up that slight difference without any problems.

After a week of playing, I had the results shown in the box to the right. In my next post, I will be breaking down what each stat means and going over other specifics about the week's play.
